Hypoglycaemic effect of<i>Bawang Dayak</i>extracts (<i>Eleutherine palmifolia</i>(L.) Merr.) on Sprague Dawley rats

The Dayak tribe in Kalimantan has long used bawang dayak as a traditional cure for various degenerative diseases. Previous research showed that bulb an active compound can inhibit the enzyme alpha-glucosidase, known alpha-glucosidase inhibitor (AGI). Compounds have such ability potential controlling blood glucose level diabetes mellitus. This aims to study effective dosage of aqueous extract and ethanolic AGI through oral tolerance test male Sprague Dawley rats. Experimental rats were divided into 14 groups, 7 test. extracts applied 5 levels each test, with acarbose drug control distilled water positive control.
